Janessa Jayne Styck came to the Pacific Northwest in the Spring of 2007, and has designed costumes for many Seattle-area theatres, including Book-It Repertory Theatre, GreenStage, Wooden O, SecondStory Repertory, Bainbridge Performing Arts, and Village KIDSTAGE.  In 2011, Janessa was nominated as The People’s Choice at the Gregory Awards for Outstanding Costume Design.

Janessa has also worked as a production designer and costume designer for film since 2010. "Chinese Takeout for One" screened at the 2015 Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) as a 3-Minute Masterpiece Contest Winner.

Janessa's first feature-length film was for Zombie Orpheus Entertainment; "Gamers: Hands of Fate" debuted at the 2013 GenCon in Indianapolis, IN.  In 2014 it returned to Indy GenCon Film Festival to win Best Feature Film.

Janessa is a Midwest native and a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), in Bloomington, Illinois where she studied under Tony-nominated Marcia McDonald.  She graduated from IWU in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts, and Minors in both English and History.

While at IWU, Janessa interned twice at Glimmerglass Opera in upstate New York.  During her internships she worked on shows designed by Tony Award-winning costume designers, and learned directly from some of the East coast’s best drapers.
